13: Benjamin's Baby

Fittingly, when I load Benjamin's house on Sunday morning, it looks as if these two have been out for a jog together.

10: Birthdays and Beginnings

So you know how that week between Christmas and New Years is always a bit fuzzy? That's kind of how this feels.
I know there was some autonomous serenading happening.

8: H is for...okay, I've officially run out of cute alphabetical chapter names
Okay, so, when we left off.
When did we leave off?
Oh yeah, I was excited because I'd written up to where I'd played to. LOL LOL LOL. So then I got sick IRL which means I've barely left the house in 4 days which means I've been playing non-stop which means as of now I have nearly 400 photos of gameplay to somehow turn into updates.
So, Granite Falls.

7: G is for Glamping

Right oh, so when we left off Benjamin was heading into school on Wednesday with 3 out of 4 childhood aspirations complete. By my estimation, he'll age up early on Friday morning.
He still needs to make a BFF for Social Butterfly. Then he needs to make 3 more child-friends and 2 adult friends. Existing friends don't count.
The league of adventurers is invited over to help out.

5: E is for Easy Breezy Childhood

What's the matter Bethany? Don't you like your new look?
It figures that both toddlers started out toddlerhood the same way - sad that Amberley had to go to work.

D is for Discord

(no, not you!)
So I'm a busy human, and entire days off to play sims almost never happen, I'm lucky to get a couple of hours in of an evening between work and sleep.
But April 26th was the last day of Passover. And I'm not Jewish - but my employer is.
So I had a day off. For no reason. While my fiancé had to go to work like a pleb. (ANZAC day was similarly uneventful, except I had to compete with him for the good computer).
I played sims, joined the Boolprop discord, read some stories. It was a good day.( Read more... )

C is for Cute (Get ready for toddler picspam!)

N'aww, Benjamin, why are you so sad? Don't you like your new look?
"Mummy gone."
She's only gone to work. She'll be back. And Daddy's here.

A is for Achievement

So, the Achievement game file will start with this lovely couple. Introducing, Amberley and Arthur Achievement. They step out of CAS already married, just to save a load of time.
They move onto one of the tiny lots in Newcrest, leaving plenty of Simoleons for me to build a half-decent 3-bedroom house.

Achievement "Challenge"
So I've been an on-and-off Simmer for years.
YEARS.
Very on-and-off.
I loved Sims 2. Loved it. I was on livejournal. And GOS. And Boolprop. Circa 2008 - 2012 this stuff was my life.
Aliases included smo52oms, jenga218, jenga_jane, and Whirligig,
But after years away, kinda wanted a fresh start with a fresh journal.
Then I went to University. Was poor. Had dodgy computers.
Got a boyfriend. We're engaged now.
Got a degree. That was an experience.
The Sims has still been a significant part of my life. But not...as significant. I didn't overly get into The Sims 3, but I did play it for a respectable 300 hours or so.
I did buy The Sims 4 on release. Racked up about 1200 hours on there. I get the EPs and the Game Packs on the nearest family-member-owes-me-a-gift occasion to their release. (Got Pets for a graduation present. Got seasons for my birthday. Got Get Famous for Valentine's day, etc). Dabbled with CC early in the show, thought at the moment I play (and prefer) a completely Vanilla game.
One thing has always annoyed me about the game over the years.
I can't bloody finish anything I start.
Hundreds of failed legacies (probably). Attempted Immortal Dynasty challenges. Even 'shorter' ones like Queen Bee - no can do.
I dunno what it is. I get bored and want to take the game in a new direction I guess? Anyways, it's a problem.
So what's the point of this?
Well, I'm going to try something new.
A different approach.
The challenge? Probably impossible.
The deadline? Hard to measure.
The rules? There are none.
Behold, Jenga's Achievement Challenge.
Aim: complete all the in-game achievements in a single save file. Yes, all.
Deadline: Before The Sims 5 gets released.
Rules: No cheats which go against the spirit of the game. (No money cheats, for instance).
Everything else is unrestricted. I might even actually go looking for a mod that allows more than 8 sims per household. Other than that, I shall start with whatever starting household I want. I shall fiddle with the game/ageing settings as I please. I shall play with as many or as few households as I choose. My sims shall marry whoever they like. Pick whatever traits/aspirations I want, and swap between households as I fancy.
The other challenges:
Seems simple enough, but I figure I'll probably struggle all the same.
Wish me luck!

The other challenges:
- take enough photos of gameplay to tell a coherent story.
- read/comment on enough other players' stories to remain an at least semi-contributory member of Sims society (My commute to/from work each day is 45 minutes so I should be able to get some reading in on the train).
- post in here once a month. With the exception of October 2019 (I'll be on holiday) and June/July 2020 (I'm getting married July 4th that year. Nothing to do with America).
Seems simple enough, but I figure I'll probably struggle all the same.
Wish me luck!
