D is for Discord

(no, not you!)
So I'm a busy human, and entire days off to play sims almost never happen, I'm lucky to get a couple of hours in of an evening between work and sleep.
But April 26th was the last day of Passover. And I'm not Jewish - but my employer is.
So I had a day off. For no reason. While my fiancé had to go to work like a pleb. (ANZAC day was similarly uneventful, except I had to compete with him for the good computer).
I played sims, joined the Boolprop discord, read some stories. It was a good day.

So, in this update, let's cover the last few days of Benjamin's toddlerhood.

For the last few days of Benjamin's toddlerhood, I was frantically trying to raise those skills to get him to top-notch.

I took very few useful photos.

Before suddenly Arthur was panicking because baby #2 was on its way.

Hadn't we decided the best way to get through this was just to sleep?
"I don't need sleep. I need fun. My fun is low, so I'm watching tv."
Right.

She did eventually make it upstairs to the bedroom.

Welcome to the world, Bethany Achievement.

Benjamin has a pretty positive response to the birth of baby Bethany.
Turns out he'll actually make an excellent big brother.

Now we just need to focus on making him an excellent toddler. T-12 hours until forced birthday, let's see what we can do!

But keeping him in a good mood during a thunderstorm is easier said than done.

I was so annoyed that I got thiiiis close.

With only about 25% left to go in thinking, Benjamin ages into a child.

And because I always miss birthdays, we have a sad sim to boot. I send him to his new room to cry it out.

So at this point Arthur and I are equally frustrated. So I follow his lead, shut down the game, and get myself some lunch. While I'm cooking I share my frustration with my new-found friends and Teresa gives me a ton of useful toddler (and childhood) tips and tricks.

It may be too late for Benjamin to make use of those, but it's certainly not too late for Bethany.

The thing about being a child rather than a toddler is you have a great deal more independence. Suddenly your world isn't confined to the four walls of your house. Sure, it's still somewhat limited to your immediate neighbourhood, but even in Newcrest there's plenty to explore.
Benjamin loves the outdoors, so he's keen to seize as many opportunities as possible to be out in the world.

Someone is convinced to build a pirate ship next to the house for Rambunctious scamp.

He's also keen to prove that even though he didn't quite make it to top-notch toddler, he can still be a very responsible big brother and very successful young man overall.

He has to set an example for his little sister, right?

She'll be looking up to him before too long.

"The drama! The suspense! Do you think he can do it? Four childhood aspirations and some scout badges?"

"Of course he can! Surrounded by the love of the people who care about you, you can do anything!"
(this puppet theater is so cute!)
